People who are celibate are often seen as being too staunch and uptight when it comes to sexuality, while people who actively seek out sexual pleasure are lauded for their liberality and labeled as free-spirited. Regardless of how much of the spotlight chastity has lost in the current age, it’s still an important choice that many individuals make throughout the world. Chastity provides an individual the opportunity to appreciate and value their body with the highest respect while not being consumed by the pressures presented to them from society. People who practice chastity are an example of self-control, valuing both their mental and physical wellbeing above what is presented to them as ‘the norm’.
Through this realization, the idea of chastity has not been completely forgotten. Instead, the emphasis of sexual education in today’s society has shifted from the importance of abstinence to the significance of safe sex and the understanding of appropriate behavior. Because of the many topics related to sex, it has become almost impossible to completely ignore the conversation, to the point where young adults feel comfortable talking about the topic openly and honestly. This allows for someone to make an informed decision in regards to their sexual activities, ensuring that any choice they make is beneficial to their own wellbeing and health.
In conclusion, while it may seem like abstinence has become taboo in current society, it is still practiced by many people around the world, even more so than it was decades ago. Chastity is, and will always be, a valid and viable choice that any individual can make in the attempt to live a fulfilling life. Even though the words chastity and abstinence bring to mind different generations and different attitudes, they are still relevant when it comes to modern approaches to sexual health and wellbeing.
