Butcher or supermarket tray

IslamHood will not pick your butcher. It will tell you what the two counters are actually selling you: a conversation, or a label.
What a butcher can answer
- Which slaughterhouse the lamb came from this week.
- Whether stunning is used, and whether that matters to your house.
- Whether the mincer also does pork — if they sell both, ask.
What a tray can answer
- The name of a certification mark, if one is printed.
- A batch or use-by, which is about food safety, not fiqh.
- Nothing about the person who wrapped it.
Price is not the ruling
Cheaper supermarket chicken can be certified. Expensive butcher mutton can be vague. Pay for the answer you can live with, not the story you prefer.
If the butcher will not name the plant, treat that like a restaurant that will not name the meat. Walk.
Quick answers
- Is supermarket halal fake?
- No. Some lines are certified. A stamp is a claim. Ask who stands behind it.
- Is a Muslim butcher automatically acceptable?
- No. Faith of the seller is not the whole chain. Ask about the slaughter.
- What about mixed counters?
- If halal and non-halal share a slicer, that is a fact you are allowed to walk away from.
