Friday prayer as a visitor

A visitor is not a problem. A visitor who treats jumu'ah like a concert is.
Before you go
- Check the time on the door or a neighbour — not a three-year-old post.
- Wear what you would wear to stand in a row, not what you wear to a pitch.
- Carry a small amount if you intend to donate. The box is not an ATM.
Inside
Follow the shoes. If the women's entrance is a different door, use it; do not argue architecture in the lobby. Phones on silent. If you do not know the mosque's language, you can still sit for the khutbah. The prayer after it is the same prayer.
After
Do not block the door for greetings while the next row is trying to leave for work. If you want to ask about classes or zakat, ask the person who locked the office, not the person folding the microphone cable.
This is not a seating chart for every mosque. It is how a guest behaves in a house that is not theirs.

- Do I need to be a member?
- No. Friday prayer is not a club. A visitor prays with the row.
- What if I miss the khutbah?
- You may still catch the prayer. You missed the sermon. Come earlier next week.
- Can I give zakat in the Friday box?
- Only if you know who that box belongs to. A donation box is not automatically a zakat pot.
